They are a well-established, family-run business based in the Blaydon area. Over the years, they have continued to grow from strength to strength, and due to increased demand, they are seeking an Experienced HGV Fitter to join the busy workshop team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is proactive, skilled, and ready to make an immediate impact.

As an Experienced HGV Fitter, you will play a key role in keeping the fleet and our customers’ vehicles operating safely and efficiently. You will be expected to hit the ground running, working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced workshop environment. Your technical knowledge and experience will be essential to the continued success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnose faults using a range of diagnostic equipment
  • Complete mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to DVSA standards
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT
  • Ensure accurate completion of job sheets and maintenance records
  • Adhere to all health & safety procedures within the workshop
  • Work efficiently to minimise downtime and support workshop productivity

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as an HGV Fitter / Technician
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently in a busy workshop
  • Good understanding of HGV systems (braking, suspension, hydraulics, etc.)
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) preferred
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential)
  • Reliable, hardworking, and proactive with a positive attitude
