Our client are currently seeking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant for their site based in Larne Paying £12.94 per hour plus holiday pay and other company benefits. Working Wednesdays only from 0930 – 1530 The role is part-time temporary ongoing with a possibility of a permanent role in the future. Our client is a community organisation providing help and support to people who want to make positive life changes. They are a leading provider of high-quality programmes and services for people with a diverse range of needs and barriers and furthest removed from the labour market. A range of Employability and Community Development programmes are available and delivered utilising an individualised tailored wraparound approach to include health and wellbeing initiatives, training and skills development, accredited qualifications and employability support. Disability Support Services provides a specialised support for young people (aged 16-22) on the Training for Success and Apprenticeship NI Programmes across Northern Ireland. About the Job Role Our client is seeking staff to provide specialist disability support to young people who require assistance whilst participating on the Skills for Life and Work, Training for Success and/or Apprenticeships NI Programme. This role also requires staff to undertake administrative duties to ensure their records of support are accurate, completed and returned timeously. Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct one to one and group-based disability support to an agreed schedule of activities. Support the tutor by delivering the appropriate disability specialist learning support for the participant. Assist the DSS Co-ordinator with the monitoring and evidencing of progress against Performance Targets set. Stimulate and promote effective, learner-centred independent learning strategies for the young person to enable them to participate and heighten their motivation and self-esteem. Maintain accurate and timely records that support effective ongoing monitoring and review of own support provided and raise any immediate issues or concerns with line manager. Please Note: DSS staff are not to carry out any teaching or programme delivery instead of the training provider, rather the training provider to lead / teach and the DSS staff member to provide additional disability support. Person Specification Job Title: Disability Support – Learning Support Assistant (E = Essential, D = Desirable) Knowledge of directly supporting people with disabilities within an employment, education, or employment & training setting (D) The ability to work with a wide cross-section of participants with varying levels of support needs (D) Highly competent in using ICT with excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite to include SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint (E) Educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent to include Maths and English.
