We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and rapidly growing organisation within the renewable energy sector for an experienced Solar Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking company delivering innovative solar and energy solutions across commercial and industrial projects.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of solar PV systems, supporting projects from initial concept through to installation and commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, installation teams, and clients to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-performing solar solutions are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed solar PV system designs for commercial and industrial projects
- Conduct site assessments and analyse energy consumption data
- Prepare technical drawings, layouts, and electrical schematics
- Use design software to model system performance and optimise output
- Ensure designs comply with current industry standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements
- Support project delivery teams with technical expertise throughout installations
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Assist with tender submissions and technical documentation where required
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a Solar Design Engineer or similar renewable energy role
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical design principles
- Experience using relevant solar design software
- Knowledge of UK electrical standards and renewable energy regulations
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Relevant engineering qualification preferred
