A full-time position based in Dundalk, working Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5pm and Friday from 8am to 3pm. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our client, a leading organisation within the UK & Ireland building services and renewable energy sector. This is a key role within a growing engineering environment delivering innovative, low-carbon and prefabricated mechanical solutions across large-scale projects throughout the UK and Europe.

About the Business

The organisation specialises in the design, manufacture, and delivery of advanced prefabricated energy and mechanical systems. These solutions are typically assembled offsite in Northern Ireland and deployed across commercial, industrial, and public sector projects. In addition, the business delivers full turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for energy centres and district heating schemes, supporting a wide range of complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical installations across major data centre and infrastructure projects within the UK & Ireland region. This role requires a strong blend of technical engineering expertise and project leadership to ensure delivery is achieved safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery & Planning: Develop and manage project scopes, programmes, and budgets; ensure alignment with operational and business objectives.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide input into mechanical design, equipment selection, and system layouts; review engineering drawings, vendor data, and technical documentation; ensure installations meet design intent, safety, and quality standards.
  • Procurement & Commercial: Support procurement of mechanical equipment and services; prepare technical specifications, RFQs, and evaluate supplier proposals; monitor project spend and supplier performance.
  • Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractors and third-party suppliers; oversee site performance in safety, quality, and delivery; chair progress meetings and resolve interface issues.
  • Cost, Quality & Risk: Track budgets, forecasts, and project progress; identify and mitigate project risks; maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with operations, EHS, quality, and production teams; maintain full project documentation including commissioning and handover packs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential: Strong background in mechanical systems, MEP, or plant utilities; minimum 5 years experience in mechanical project management within data centres; experience managing subcontractors and site teams; strong commercial and budget management skills; proficiency in AutoCAD and project management tools (MS Project / similar); understanding of relevant standards (e.g. ISO, ASME, API); strong communication and leadership skills; degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; willingness to travel 2-3 days per week depending on project needs.
  • Desirable: Experience with offsite / prefabricated MEP solutions; exposure to mechanical, electrical, and BMS coordination; knowledge of QA, snagging, and handover processes; continuous improvement mindset.
