Production Assembly Operative

Salary: £25,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm | Friday, 8:00am to 1:30pm
Location: Burton-on-Trent area
Contract: Permanent

Are you looking for a permanent position where you can settle in, learn new skills and genuinely build a career?

We’re recruiting for a Production Assembly Operative to join an established and supportive manufacturing operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being part of a close-knit team and learning new skills. You’ll initially be trained on one assembly station, with the opportunity to develop across different areas and build your skillset as you progress.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. What we’re really looking for is someone with a strong work ethic, a can-do attitude, reliability and a genuine willingness to learn.

What will you be doing?

Working within a small production team of approximately 4 to 5 people, you’ll assemble specialist components using a variety of handheld tools and equipment.

Your role will include:

  • Assembling components to required standards
  • Using handheld power and manual tools, including drills and wrenches
  • Working as part of a small production line team
  • Following assembly processes and instructions accurately
  • Working towards achievable daily team production targets
  • Checking the quality of completed work
  • Packaging completed products
  • Learning different assembly stations as your experience develops
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Supporting colleagues to achieve daily production requirements

The role can be repetitive at times, so it will particularly suit someone who enjoys practical, structured work and takes satisfaction from producing quality work consistently.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who wants to build something longer-term, rather than simply find their next short-term assignment.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A reliable and consistent approach to work
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to work effectively within a small team
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues
  • A willingness to learn different processes
  • The drive to develop your skills and progress

Most importantly, you’ll need to be dependable, punctual and genuinely interested in learning.

What is the working environment like?

You’ll generally work within a team of around 4 to 5 colleagues per production line, meaning you’ll get to know the people you work alongside rather than feeling like another number in a huge operation.

Each day starts with a briefing from management covering the day’s requirements and production targets. You’ll then work collaboratively with your team to achieve the required output.

The business also operates regular 10-minute breaks throughout the working day, alongside a one-hour lunch break, with an early 1:30pm finish every Friday.

Training & progression

One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the chance to develop.

You’ll receive on-the-job training from experienced colleagues, including team members who have been with the business for many years.

You’ll initially concentrate on becoming confident at your first assembly station before being given opportunities to learn other stations and larger components.

The company actively encourages people to broaden their skills, and there are opportunities to undertake additional training and courses funded by the business as you develop.

If you’re someone who wants to put the effort in, learn and potentially progress through the ranks, there is genuine scope to develop.

Why apply?

  • Permanent position from the outset
  • £25,000 annual salary
  • Monday to Friday daytime hours & 1:30pm finish every Friday
  • Regular breaks throughout the working day
  • Bus stop located on the business park
  • On-the-job training from experienced colleagues
  • Genuine opportunity to build a long-term career
  • Staff incentives and team activities

If you’re looking for a stable permanent role with a business that will invest in your development, we’d love to hear from you.
