This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing team delivering high-quality prefabricated mechanical solutions across a range of commercial and industrial projects.
Role Overview: The Mechanical Project Manager will take ownership of off-site mechanical plantroom projects within a busy manufacturing facility, managing them from planning through to completion. You will be responsible for tracking progress, identifying issues early, and driving solutions to ensure projects remain on programme, within budget, and delivered to a high standard of quality. This role requires a strong blend of technical understanding, hands-on delivery experience, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across mechanical, electrical, and BMS disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution: Oversee mechanical build activity across multiple plantroom modules on the factory floor. Work closely with supervisors and trades to maintain programme delivery. Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, programme, and quality standards. Coordinate with electrical, BMS, and other trades to avoid clashes and delays.
- Technical & Engineering Oversight: Provide mechanical engineering input during design, equipment selection, and layout stages. Review drawings, vendor documentation, and material take-offs. Ensure installations meet design intent, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Procurement & Supply Chain: Work with procurement and supply chain teams on mechanical equipment and services. Flag material shortages and lead time risks early. Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractors and third-party suppliers. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and programme requirements. Hold regular progress meetings and site reviews. Provide weekly updates to key stakeholders.
- Cost, Quality & Risk Control: Monitor project costs, forecasts, and progress against programme. Work with commercial teams to manage variations and cost control. Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans. Maintain high-quality standards across all deliverables.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain up-to-date project records including drawings, certifications, change orders, and commissioning documents. Ensure full compliance with industry standards and internal procedures. Support QA, handover, and audit processes.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems, pipework, and mechanical services
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical project management (manufacturing or industrial environment preferred)
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
- Experience in contract and vendor management
- Hands-on, practical approach to project delivery
Desirable Experience:
- Offsite MEP / prefabrication or modular manufacturing experience
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and BMS coordination
