Full time (0.8FTE would be considered). Required for September 2026, a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of English at Kendrick School, an 11-18 girls' grammar school in Reading. The successful applicant needs to be able to teach English to A Level. Both English and Drama are popular and highly valued subjects; a significant number of students take English Literature at A Level. The English department offers a wide range of extracurricular opportunities and is supportive and collegiate.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English up to A Level; contribute to the English and Drama offerings as appropriate.
  • Engage in a friendly, collegiate English department and contribute to a positive, inclusive school community.
  • Support students in achieving high standards, including preparing them for university study in English-related subjects.
  • Participate in the development of ECTs; support and mentor new teachers as part of a collaborative department.
  • Lead and participate in English extracurricular activities and clubs as appropriate.
  • Contribute to school events and curriculum enhancements as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Well-qualified teacher with the ability to teach English to A Level.
  • Experience or potential to contribute to a successful English department and to support a range of learners.
  • Ability to work in a high-performing, OFSTED-rated environment (Kendrick School has historically received Outstanding ratings).
  • Suitable for either a recently qualified teacher (ECT) or an experienced teacher.
