POSITION: RETAIL DESIGN & FRAGRANCE VM INTERN

DEPARTMENT: MERCHANDISING

LOCATION: LONDON, UK

REPORTS TO: RETAIL DESIGNER & VISUAL MERCHANDISING MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• Guarantee accurate, qualitative brand image through all new store openings in UK and Ireland according to company guidelines.
• Contribute to the development of the Dior image in the UK and Ireland through the design, build and installation of new counters & fragrance backwalls.
• Ongoing innovation of existing counters to incorporate newly developed furniture.
• Ensure the integrity of all the institutional brand requirements across the Fragrance, Make Up and Skincare.
• Support the Merchandising Team to ensure the Dior brand values/messages are maintained and are consistent in store.

Job responsibilities

RETAIL DESIGN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take responsibility for new counter builds, refurbishments, and design initiatives from conception all the way through to implementation.
• Produce creative POS designs in accordance with the merchandising guidelines to optimise brand visibility.
• Challenge and negotiate with brand partners to ensure brand image is not compromised.
• Creatively design and prototype new counter builds.
• Provide project plans, designs and technical specifications to the international purchaser to obtain costings.
• Work with local suppliers ahead of installations to ensure accurate application of designs, technical specifications, and highest possible quality production.
• Quality control of new builds, providing feedback to suppliers where necessary.
• Manage project budgets, tracking and raising PO’s – Ensuring all suppliers are paid within the project budget.
• Management and awareness of our warehouse storage, making sure to reuse fixtures where possible.

FRAGRANCE VM RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the VM Manager with permanent project rollouts, for example Backwalls, Gondola Ends, Permanent Tods.
• Raise POs for all Fragrance projects, check actuals monthly in budget.
• Organise tester orders for sites/windows etc.
• Help with site installs in London and UK especially around Christmas.
• Support the VM manager to rollout out the new permanent TPS & TFS Backwall concept.

Profile

• Ability to visualise store environments and enhance the customer journey.

• Negotiation skills.
• Product design and management of prototypes.

Technical Skills

• Design background.
• Software packages: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), 3D CAD (Vectorworks, Google Sketch-Up).
• Knowledge of furniture and materials for counter builds.

Profile

• Architectural or Designer background with retail application preferable.
• Good relationship builder.
• Knowledge of the cosmetic market an asset but not essential (competitors, agents, retailers…).
