Team role
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions and drive successful project outcomes.
- Regular client exposure on a job specific level across multiple sectors.
- Lead and co-ordinate project teams in the successful delivery of construction schemes as part of our 1 Team ethos.
- Develop technical knowledge to give guidance to others across a variety of sectors.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the organisation.
- Develop new workstreams and client opportunities through both innovation as well as repeat business arising from effective project delivery.
Individual duties
- Pre-contract advice on construction, contract or cost aspects of building surveying work including feasibilities.
- Conduct detailed inspections and assessments of existing buildings, identifying defects, preparing detailed reports and providing expert advice on maintenance, repair, and refurbishment strategies.
- Lead building surveying projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client requirements.
- Preparation of specifications, obtaining tenders and preparing contract documents.
- Provide advice to clients and junior team members on effective approaches to procurement.
- Contract administration, valuation and certification including chairing meetings with associated document preparation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients – offering strategic guidance on properties, dilapidations, party wall matters and other building-related issues.
- Manage project timelines, budgets and resources effectively.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, contractors and regulatory authorities.
- Manage and develop a small team of existing Building Surveyors to deliver new and existing work programmes.
- Mentor and coach new and existing graduate team members towards their professional qualifications, assisting where necessary.
- Develop and maintain new and existing client relationships contributing to growth of the team and wider department.
Skills and requirements
- MRICS status.
- Recent experience in Building Surveying within the construction industry.
- Experience required the delivery of a wide range of project based work.
- Experience in client facing roles ideally with private consultancy background.
- Proven leadership abilities with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present to audiences both in person and virtually.
- Aptitude for establishing, building and maintaining professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Strong work ethic with appetite for agile working in and around the West Region.
- Knowledge of MS 365.
- JCT / NEC Contracts.
- AutoCAD / Vectorworks design software.
- UK building regulations and construction standards.
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
- Building Safety Act 2023.
