Team Role – Responsibilities
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions and drive project outcomes.
- Provide regular client exposure across multiple sectors.
- Lead and co‑ordinate project teams in the successful delivery of construction schemes as part of our one‑team ethos.
- Develop technical knowledge to give guidance to others across a variety of sectors.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Develop new workstreams and client opportunities through both innovation and repeat business arising from effective project delivery.
Individual Duties – Key Tasks
- Pre‑contract advice on construction, contract or cost aspects of building surveying work, including feasibilities.
- Conduct detailed inspections and assessments of existing buildings, identify defects, prepare detailed reports, and provide advice on maintenance, repair and refurbishment strategies.
- Lead building surveying projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client requirements.
- Prepare specifications, obtain tenders and draft contract documents.
- Provide advice to clients and junior team members on effective procurement approaches.
- Administer contracts, perform valuations, certify and chair meetings with associated document preparation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on properties, dilapidations, party‑wall matters and other building‑related issues.
- Manage project timelines, budgets and resources effectively.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, contractors and regulatory authorities.
- Manage and develop a small team of Building Surveyors to deliver new and existing work programmes.
- Mentor and coach graduate team members towards their professional qualifications.
- Develop and maintain client relationships contributing to growth of the team and wider department.
Skills and Requirements
- MRICS status.
- Extensive experience in Building Surveying within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering a wide range of project‑based work.
- Strong client‑facing experience; preferably with a private consultancy background.
