We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Technologist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team in our Exeter studio. At Kendall Kingscott, we pride ourselves on delivering thoughtful, high-quality design solutions across a variety of sectors. We’re currently working on an exciting and diverse range of projects, and we’re seeking someone who shares our passion for good design, attention to detail, and collaborative working.

As an Architectural Technologist, you’ll play a key role in delivering projects across all RIBA stages. While your project experience can be varied, previous experience within the healthcare, housing and education sectors would be a bonus – but it’s not essential. You’ll be supported by a friendly, experienced team with opportunities to lead on projects, develop your skills, and contribute to the continued growth of our team.

We are able to support candidates who are working towards MCIAT status through our in-house KK Academy, with the added benefit from the knowledge and guidance of team members who have successfully Chartered while at KK. Team Role
  • Work closely with fellow professionals such as Architects, Design Teams, and Surveyors to develop excellent detailed technical drawings, specifications and construction documents.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of planning applications, Building Regulation submissions and other project documentation.
  • Conduct site visits and liaise with contractors, consultants and clients to ensure a smooth process.
  • Use your technical knowledge to develop the innovative and sustainable design solutions on a variety of projects.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations and new technology to enhance your project outcomes.
Individual Duties
  • Develop and produce accurate detailed design and technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines in-house to translate design concepts into construction documents.
  • Coordinate project activities, liaising with stakeholders to ensure a seamless project execution.
  • Regular site visits to monitor progression and address any technical issues that may arise.
  • Produce Schedules of Works / Prelims – NBS Specifications.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foster a multi-disciplinary approach to project development.
Skills And Requirements
  • Either MCIAT status or looking to progress with Chartership through the KK Academy.
  • Experience in Vectorworks is an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods and detailing.
  • Technical ability covering RIBA stages 4 – 7.
  • Experience within the healthcare sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Familiarity of JCT / NEC Contracts is beneficial.
  • New build SAP and EPC assessments would be an advantage but not essential.
