Job Purpose: To support the supervisor to carry out their duties. To provide 24 hour physical and social care for all our residents. Ensuring all Kennedy care group policies and procedures are adhered to. Skill, Knowledge and Qualifications: . Ability to communicate effectively . To provide personal and practical care services for every resident . To assist residents and promote dignity and independence with personal care . To help residents with mobility needs and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help with any aids and personal equipment . To help care for residents who are dying, with dignity and respect . To help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of residents, through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation. . To make and change beds, tidy bedrooms and ensuite, do light cleaning and empty and disinfect commodes. Ensure drawers and cupboards in bedrooms are kept in order and tidy. . to launder residents clothing when required. . To set tables/ trays, serve meals, assist residents who require assistance with meals, prepare light meals, such as supper and wash up, tidy and clear away waste and dishes. . To read and write in support plans and take part in staff and residents meetings and in training activities as directed. . To conform to all policies, procedures and guidelines laid down by Kennedy care group in respect of carrying out these care duties. . To answer call bells swiftly and efficiently . To carry out accurately and in a competent manner, instructions from the manager and supervisor, adhering to the support plans of each individual resident. . To actively talk and listen to residents, allowing for their personal choice in their own home. . Make sure your timesheet is completed daily and correctly. . To maintain accurate, concise, records of the residents care duly signed and dated in the support file. . to be familiar with KCG health and safety policy to promote safe working practices and to ensure full compliance with infection control procedures. . To report and record any accidents and or incidents which may occur, no matter how minor, whether to yourself or a resident. . To report back to the manager or supervisor on any aspects of the residents care which, in the view of the care support worker, warrants investigation or urgent action. . To report immediately to the manager any noticeable changes in health, behaviour or circumstances of residents. Communication . Maintain regular and effective communication with the manager. . Attend meetings as required and reading distributed minutes of such meetings. . To liaise with other housekeeping staff as required. Personnel: . Ensure that you have read and work within the terms of the employee information manual. . Ensure that you have read and work within your terms and conditions of employment. . Work on an as required basis involving weekend work as required and showing flexibility in your work pattern where necessary. . Maintain a satisfactory appearance within the uniform policy of the company. Marketing: 1. Promoting a positive personal profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the home at all times. Training and development: 1. Attend staff training as required by the manager Health and safety: 1. Ensure compliance with the homes health and safety policy and emergency and fire and infection control procedures. 2. To store and use all chemicals within the issued COSHH guidelines. General: 1. Answer the telephone, doorbell and greet visitors as required in a pleasant and efficient manner 2. Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of work is not divulged to a third party 3. Maintain such logbooks and records as may be required by the manager and the registering authorities 4. Ensure correct records of your working hours 5. Ensure the security of the home is maintained at all times as instructed by the manager 6.
