The roles are only open to those with a legal right to work in the United Kingdom and willing to be based at our office in Central London.

Kendal Advisory is looking to hire two curious, dependable Social Media Analysts to support our work with a global portfolio of clients on major public policy issues.

This is an entry level role suited to a recent graduate or someone at the start of their career. We are looking for someone who understands social media, how platforms work, why people engage with content, how creators and influencers build audiences, and how online conversations can shape public opinion.

You do not need years of professional experience. You do need good judgement, strong writing skills and an interest in understanding what is happening online and why it matters.

The role

Working as part of our team, you will monitor and analyse social media conversations around issues that matter to our clients. You will help identify emerging stories, influential voices and changes in public sentiment, turning what you find into clear, useful reporting.

Our clients operate internationally, and online conversations develop around the clock. You will therefore need to be comfortable working a scheduled shift pattern within a 40 hour working week, including some early mornings, evenings or weekends, depending on client needs. Clear handovers and close teamwork will be an important part of the role.

What you will do

  • Monitor conversations across major social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Reddit.
  • Identify the creators, influencers, campaigners and communities shaping discussion of particular issues.
  • Examine what drives engagement, how content spreads and which audiences it reaches.
  • Track emerging narratives and changes in the volume, tone and direction of online discussion.
  • Write concise updates, alerts and reports that explain what has happened, what the evidence shows and why it matters to a client.
  • Help distinguish meaningful developments from routine activity or short-lived spikes in attention.
  • Use social listening and research tools to gather information, check sources and maintain accurate records.
  • Work closely with colleagues, share findings promptly and provide clear handovers between shifts.
  • Handle sensitive client information carefully and confidentially.

What we are looking for

  • A good working understanding of the major social media platforms, their different audiences, content formats and broad approaches to recommending and distributing content.
  • An interest in creators, influencers and online communities, including how they build credibility and influence.
  • Curiosity about public policy, current affairs and the relationship between online discussion and events in the wider world.
  • Strong written English and the ability to explain a complicated issue in straightforward language.
  • Confidence working with basic data and engagement metrics, with an understanding that high engagement does not necessarily mean broad public support.
  • Attention to detail and a habit of checking information before drawing conclusions.
  • Reliability, discretion and sound judgement, including knowing when to flag an issue or ask for help.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to stay organised, meet deadlines and follow through on agreed tasks.
  • Willingness to work a scheduled shift pattern as part of a team.

Useful, but not essential

Experience with social listening tools, spreadsheets, research or reporting would be helpful. So would experience running a social media account, creating content, working on a student publication or helping build an online community. We welcome applicants from a range of academic backgrounds. Evidence of curiosity, clear thinking and a practical understanding of social media matters more than a particular degree subject or a large personal following.

What you can expect

You will gain hands on experience working on significant public policy issues for international clients, with guidance from experienced colleagues. You will develop your research, analytical and writing skills, learn how social media intelligence informs client advice, and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.
