Hire Controller
Salary: Β£35,000
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm
We are looking for an experienced Hire Controller to join a busy and established team in Pontefract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in the powered access or plant hire industry who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineer workloads, schedules, overtime and client communication.
- Manage job reports, quotes, invoicing, stock levels and parts supply.
- Support hire desk enquiries, contracts, logistics and telesales.
- Maintain hire equipment compliance, including LOLER and PDI requirements.
- Manage parts enquiries, supplier liaison and stock records, including van stock.
- Oversee driver, vehicle and fleet compliance, tracking and audit records.
- Manage visitors and contractors, including sign-in, documentation, safety and PPE.
- Provide general administration, customer support and GDPR compliance while maintaining a high level of organisation and attention to detail.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven background in administration, coordination, or a similar support-focused role.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively.
- Confident using technology and a range of Microsoft Office applications.
- Comfortable working independently, managing responsibilities with minimal supervision, and remaining effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Thorough and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Familiarity with Xero would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
- Previous experience within the equipment hire industry or in an engineering support role would be beneficial.
