Heavy Forklift Engineer Location: Kent Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm (40hrs)
Basic Salary: £35,000–£45,000, dependent on experience and assessment
OTE: £43,531–£55,969 with 5 hours' overtime per week
OTE: £52,063–£67,000 with 10 hours' overtime per week
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x
Company Van: Fully equipped company van Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing with service We are looking for an experienced Heavy Forklift Engineer to join our team and cover customer sites across Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Forklift Engineer with experience working on heavy equipment, particularly 16-tonne+ forklifts. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a broad range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment, helping to keep customers' equipment safe, compliant and operational.
Your Responsibilities
Perform servicing, maintenance and repair work on a broad range of forklift trucks and material handling equipment. Work on 16-tonne+ heavy forklifts. Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues. Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs. Carry out LOLER inspections to ensure equipment remains fully compliant. Complete safety checks and pre-delivery inspections. Respond to breakdowns and carry out reactive maintenance to minimise customer downtime. Effectively organise and manage your workload and service schedule. Accurately complete service reports, job sheets and relevant documentation. Communicate with the parts department to ensure the correct components are sourced and installed. Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when working on customer sites. Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
What You'll Need
Minimum 12 months' experience as a Forklift Engineer, Material Handling Mechanic, Plant Fitter or similar. Essential: proven experience working on 16-tonne+ forklifts. Proven experience with diesel engines. Strong experience with electrics, hydraulics and diagnostics. Good mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability. Ability to work independently and effectively manage your workload. A professional, reliable and customer-focused attitude. Technical qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ is desirable.
