Overview
Role: Sales Estimator β Location: Cardiff β Salary: Β£40,000 β Shift: Monday to Friday (40 hours), 7:30am to 4:00pm. This is a permanent, office-based role with a respected independent specialist in industrial door systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope.
- Help gather and organise pricing information for materials, labour, and plant.
- Support the preparation of detailed cost estimates.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing.
- Help maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Learn and apply estimating best practices and company procedures.
- Perform basic calculations and quantity take-offs under supervision.
- Assist in the use of estimating software and databases.
- Shadow experienced estimators during site visits and pre-bid meetings.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of the construction industry, including processes, materials and methods.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word).
- Good communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn estimating software (e.g. Merlin).
