KEMP Hospice is currently supported by approximately 200 volunteers in different sectors within the organisation, by volunteering in this finance role, your work directly strengthens KEMP Hospice’s core operations, ensuring vital funds are managed efficiently. As a small charity serving the Wyre Forest, every saved resource translates into direct care.
Your support helps the hospice by
- Maximising Care Funds – Efficient financial administration reduces overhead costs. This ensures more community donations go directly to specialist medical, emotional, and bereavement care.

What are we looking for?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable volunteer who has an interest in finance and accounting and is keen to develop their skills while making a positive impact.
We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who
- Have some accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or financial administration experience.
- Are studying towards, or planning to pursue, professional accounting qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent.
- Have good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Are comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial data.
- Possess good organisational and communication skills.
- Can maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Are willing to learn new systems and processes.
- Have an interest in supporting the implementation of new accounting software and digital improvements.
- Are able to work collaboratively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.

What will you be doing?
A core priority of this role is supporting the hospice’s transition to its new accounting software, which will modernise KEMP’s financial infrastructure. By assisting with this digital upgrade, you ensure the charity operates with the highest level of efficiency and accuracy.
Your involvement in this system implementation includes
- System Migration – Cleaning, formatting, and safely transferring financial data from the old system to the new platform.
- Testing & Quality Check – Running trial transactions and checking data accuracy to ensure the new system works perfectly before going live.
- Process Documentation – Helping write clear, simple guides on how to use the new software for the team.
- User Support – Assisting colleagues as they learn the new system, making the transition smooth for everyone.
- Future Proofing – Setting up automated tools that speed up day‑to‑day bookkeeping, reporting, and budget tracking.
