The predicted salary is between 11 - 16 £ per hour.

The farm is a grower of herbs and baby leaf salads, for the fresh and frozen markets. Participants are required for a variety of tasks to meet the needs of the farm’s customers, and there are different specifications imposed according to the market requirements. Participants are required to comply with health and hygiene requirements for food handlers, and are required to wear protective clothing when working in all areas of operation. Participants will need to be flexible in their approach to work.

Teams

  • The prep room team: main duties are hand harvesting mint and chives and also trimming, chopping, bunching and bagging chives, mint, coriander, flat leaf parsley and curly parsley.
  • The herb harvesting team: main duties are machine harvesting coriander, flat leaf parsley and curly parsley; they also hand cut some of the crop.
  • The baby leaf harvesting team: main duties are machine harvesting spinach, rocket, mizuna, kale and chard. They also carry out the fleecing for some of these crops.

The duties that all workers will take part in are tray washing, occasional weeding and cleaning; other tasks may arise which are not listed here but all training will be given before the work is carried out. You will be placed in the team that supervisors believe you to be most suitable for.

Field Barn Farm needs to rely on staff availability and asks all participants to consider carefully the length of time they are able to work. The season is usually from May to November. Participants who leave before the end of their contracted time cause the company difficulty, as do participants who decide to leave without giving the company any notice. Field Barn Farm now require ALL participants to give 2 weeks notice to leave, so that the farm can arrange for other temporary staff to cover.
