We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join this vibrant start up and play a key role in shaping how they collect, store, and use data to drive scientific innovation. What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to integrate data from various sources, including public datasets, customer databases, and laboratory instruments.
  • Work closely with data scientists, bioinformaticians, and software engineers to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and ready for analysis.
  • Implement and optimise data storage solutions, including relational and NoSQL databases, data lakes, and cloud-based platforms such as AWS.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of data sources, flows, models, and ETL processes.
  • Use data visualisation tools to build dashboards and reports that provide valuable insights.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, resolving issues and making improvements where needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, ideally in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
  • Strong skills in Python and SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Argo Workflows, Prefect, or Temporal.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their data services.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Iceberg.
  • Knowledge of data modelling, database design, and data warehousing best practices.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools like Superset, Grafana, or Metabase.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • A passion for drug discovery and a drive to make a meaningful impact in the field.
