Purpose of the job: To provide an outstanding service to all our customers and outstanding food to all customers. To work in accordance with the company policies and procedures. To ensure the kitchen is clean, tidy and inviting at all times. To ensure that all maintenance issues are noted down and sorted. To ensure that if needed you work on the tills, running food and clearing tables. To order in the right amount of food and beverage stock, and to ensure that this is checked over with management. To make sure all health and safety paperwork relating to the kitchen is up to date. To make sure all compliance kitchen paperwork work is up to date (Temperature checks, probing of food etc). To make sure all food stores, fridges and freezers are clean and tidy. To make sure the kitchen is clean and spotless, ready for any EHO visits, aiming for 5 stars.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Your duties will encompass the following, although this list is not exhaustive and from time to time there may be additional requirements to be undertaken to ensure that the aims and purpose of the role are accomplished:

  • Undertake the required opening/closing procedures and preparing the kitchen ready for opening at the stated times.
  • Food preparation and ordering for the Venue.
  • Ensure stock is topped up in catering areas before opening.
  • Report all kitchen maintenance issues immediately to the Senior Manager.
  • Keep an up to date cleaning rota of the kitchen (fryers, canopy filters, dish washer).
  • To make sure that food is of a high standard for all customers.
  • To write down all wastage and to pass on the information to the Senior Manager.
  • To look at a seasonal menu and the latest food trends.
  • To make sure we maximise catering sales 7 days a week.
  • To operate smoothing running of the kitchen 7 days a week.
  • To have one deep clean of the kitchen once a week.
  • Compliance with Health and Safety laws relating to catering areas.
  • Ensure that the position of Cook is seen as a positive role model for staff at all times.
  • Provide customer care through effective communication such as greeting, serving, taking phone calls, and dealing with enquiries or complaints appropriately.
  • Monitor and ensure all agreed company policies and safety standards are maintained.
  • Project a patient, friendly and professional image at all times.
  • To be competent at solving problems.
  • Ensure the kitchen is a clean, safe and inviting place at all times.
  • Ensure all administration of documentation is accurate and all invoices/delivery notes/papers are sent to Head Office on time.
  • Ensure all kitchen orders are done on time.
  • Ensure there is sufficient cleaning equipment and cleaning stock.
  • Ensure that all kitchen paperwork is up to date (temperature checks, probing of food etc).
  • Ensure that the kitchen area is hygienically clean and spotless ready for any EHO visits.
  • To work effectively as part of a team, promoting flexibility and willingness to share knowledge, skills and experience to support and develop other team members.
  • Promote equal opportunities in the workplace by helping to deliver high-quality services and standards.
  • Liaise with other managers/senior staff, and regular staff appropriately.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Senior Managers or Managing Director.

Person Specification: A current Food Hygiene Certificate, an awareness of food allergies, knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues including COSHH knowledge, the ability to order the correct amounts of food and control stock, to be able to work as part of a team and upon own initiative, competent at managing own time and prioritising tasks, friendly, flexible approach to work life, commitment to any training and meetings that are requested for the role.

Hours of Work: Normal opening hours are 8am til 5pm for now, as it is a start-up and growing. We may look at the dinner trade and also events. This will be discussed and communicated with you. You will be expected to work a minimum of 5 days a week covering a 7-day rota including bank holidays.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00 per year
