We are seeking a Civil or Structural Engineering graduate with a strong passion for sustainable construction. As a Sustainability Graduate at Keltbray, you will play a key role in supporting the sustainable delivery across Keltbray’s projects and operations. Working within a contractor environment means you’ll be at the ‘doing end’ of sustainability, gaining hands-on exposure across a wide range of disciplines and project stages. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability management, carbon management and reduction, and social value delivery within the construction sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Keltbray’s Sustainability Strategy and Carbon Reduction Plan.
  • Provide sustainability advice: Assist projects in making their delivery socially and environmentally responsible.
  • Support the integration of PAS 2080 principles into internal tool, workflows and project delivery processes.
  • Develop and implement a carbon forecasting tool to support construction method appraisals.
  • Develop guides to support the roll out of this tool across the business.
  • Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to identify carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Support the Head of Environmental Sustainability with corporate carbon reporting requirements eg. SECR, ESOS, SBTi.
  • Participate in site visits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Quantify embodied carbon associated with designs using project data, specifications, and pricing schedules.
  • Use Power BI (and ideally SQL) to extract, compile, and visualise data from various sources including internal databases, reports, and external systems.
  • Supporting projects with BREEAM requirements.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree (or working towards) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Desirable: Knowledgeable with the Microsoft Office suite; Proficiency in Power BI for data analysis and dashboard creation; Understanding of Carbon Reduction Hierarchy and Circular Economy Principles; Experience using SQL to query databases; Familiarity with whole-life carbon assessments and relevant standards (e.g. PAS 2080, RICS WLC); Familiarity with BREEAM in Construction.
  • Essential: A proactive and practical approach to solving complex problems. Strong communication skills to convey complex data clearly to non-technical audiences; Professional and personable disposition; Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to interpret technical data.
