Role Overview
Keltbray Lifting Services is seeking a highly competent and experienced Lifting Appointed Person (AP) to support and deliver safe, efficient, and compliant lifting operations across a range of complex construction and infrastructure projects.
The role will involve planning and managing mobile crane lifting operations alongside lift & shift activities, including heavy plant movements and specialist rigging operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining Keltbray’s high standards of safety, technical excellence, and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Undertake the duties of Appointed Person in accordance with BS 7121 and Keltbray procedures
- Plan, develop, and author detailed lift plans and method statements for:
- Lift & shift plant movement activities
- Complex and non-routine lifting operations
- Carry out site surveys to determine lifting requirements, constraints, and risks
- Select appropriate lifting equipment, cranes, and accessories
- Ensure correct calculation of:
- Crane configurations and capacities
- Rigging arrangements and lifting accessories
- Provide technical support and guidance to site teams, including Lift Supervisors and Slinger/Signallers
- Oversee and coordinate rigging operations, ensuring safe execution in line with lift plans
- Ensure all lifting activities comply with:
- PUWER
- BS 7121 series
- Company procedures and client requirements
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Support the mobilisation and delivery of projects across multiple sites
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure lessons learned are captured and shared
- Extensive experience in:
- Recognised Appointed Person qualification (e.g. CPCS A61 or equivalent)
- Valid Slinger/Signaller certification (CPCS/NPORS or equivalent)
- Valid Lift Supervisor certification (CPCS/NPORS or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of BS 7121, LOLER, and lifting industry best practice
- Ability to produce detailed and accurate lift plans and technical documentation
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Familiarity with jacking, skidding, and specialist transport systems
- Experience coordinating multiple cranes or high-risk operations (e.g. tandem lifts, blind lifts)
- Temporary Works knowledge or interface experience
- High attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Professional, reliable, and able to work under pressure
- Flexible and willing to travel and work away for short durations when required
- Strong team player with the ability to lead and influence site teams
