Job Description

Job Title: Earthworks and Civil Engineering Site Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Site Manager to oversee and coordinate all on-site activities related to Earthworks and Civil Engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teams, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage all site operations for earthworks and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate groundworks including excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and drainage.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house crews to ensure timely and quality execution of works.
  • Monitor site progress against schedule, address delays, and report to project management.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (CDM Regulations).
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, architects, and local authorities.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Conduct site inspections, quality control checks, and ensure workmanship meets required standards.
  • Maintain accurate site records, daily reports, and site diaries.
  • Order and manage materials and plant equipment effectively.
  • Lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety briefings.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in earthworks or civil engineering.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • CPCS / CSCS Card
  • Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, highways, concrete works, and infrastructure.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and construction software.
  • Valid UK driving license (if UK-based).

Desirable:

  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
  • Experience with GPS and machine control systems.
