We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join the team of a Walsall based multi-site manufacturing business running its own in-house fleet of vehicles undertaking multi-drop deliveries throughout the West Midlands.

As the Transport Planner, you will work closely with the Transport, Operations and Sales teams to ensure timely, efficient and optimised deliveries both to customers and group sites alike. Salary is entirely dependent on experience and will therefore be discussed at interview; however, we anticipate something in the region of £35,000 / £36,000.

As Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Route planning multi-drop deliveries across the greater Midlands
  • Scheduling and consolidating complex loads to customers
  • Optimising vehicle and driver utilisation
  • Prioritising customer service and satisfaction
  • Observing correct documentation and regulatory guidelines are upheld
  • Overseeing loading operations and despatch to facilitate planned deliveries
  • Prompt accommodation of traffic, breakdown and other unforeseen delays
  • Assisting in managing and covering driver leave and absence
  • Liaising with third party providers regarding servicing, repairs & breakdowns

As the successful Transport Planner, your CV should include the following key skills & experience:

  • Planning experience in a busy Transport or Logistics capacity or similar
  • Route planning and scheduling multi-drop deliveries for HGVs
  • Planning optimum utilisation of resources to achieve desired service levels
  • Confident problem solving and strong influencing skills at all levels
  • Managing & motivating teams of driving, yard & support staff
  • Computer literate with strong analytical & reporting skills
  • Previous experience of HIABs, LOLER requirements, compliance, yard practices or routing/planning software would be advantageous
