Our Essex based client is looking for a Van Driver with a very good knowledge of Central London to join their team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar driving role, a good work ethic, full valid driving licence, excellent communication skills and the ability to load and unload the van.
Van Driver duties will include:
- Maintaining a safe working environment by applying a ‘Safety First’ approach to working.
- Ensuring the transit van has daily checks and is kept clean and tidy at all times.
- Providing high standards of service to clients at all times.
- Checking goods whilst loading and unloading to ensure cargo integrity and highlighting any damage or loss immediately to the Transport Manager.
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of your van, checking against notes to ensure accuracy of receipt or dispatch of goods.
- Ensuring all freight loaded is secured and unlikely to move during transit using straps when required.
- Raising concerns or issues with the Manager as soon as they arise.
- Driving at all times within the legal requirements, being courteous to other drivers and the general public and avoiding vehicle damage.
- Flexible attitude towards working hours when required.
Requirements for the Van Driver role:
- Previous experience in a similar Van Driving role covering Central London.
- Full valid driving licence.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive and friendly approach to customers and colleagues.
- Strong team player.
- Able to work on own initiative under pressure and to deadlines.
- Strong time management skills.
- Good numerical and written skills.
- Willing to start earlier or finish later when required.
- Good timekeeping and work ethic.
