Overview

The aim of the role is to help keep the gardens in front of and to the back of the ward tidy and interesting, for the enjoyment of patients, visitors and staff. Volunteers will assist with pruning, weeding, deadheading, watering, and, occasionally, new planting.

Responsibilities

  • Weeding borders and pots around the ward.
  • Deadheading plants as necessary.
  • Cutting back / pruning as needed.
  • Watering new plants and as necessary in dry spells.
  • Occasionally, helping to choose new plants for pots or borders, and planting them.

Time commitment

Volunteering for this role involves an ongoing weekly commitment of 2 – 3 hours, during the Spring, Summer and Autumn months, at a time to suit you and the ward staff who will be supporting you. This will be on a weekday, rather than at weekends.
