Kellanova is investing £75 million in its Wrexham cereal plant, aiming to make it the largest cereal manufacturing site in Europe. As part of this exciting expansion, we are looking for a Manufacturing Shift Lead. This onsite role will primarily be based at the Wrexham plant, with occasional travel to Media City and Manchester Plant for cross‑functional work. You will produce legal and safe food according to a production plan where personal safety is non‑negotiable. You will be accountable for the execution delivery of foundational KPIs (Environment, Health & Safety, Food Safety & Quality, Customer Service, and Finance) within your business unit production area. You will lead your shift‑based line teams to deliver the necessary results in all areas, aligning with plan strategies and priorities. Drive and coach your line teams forward to deliver shift metrics, ensuring business goals are met while continuing personal development.

As part of the line leader structure in Operations, you will have full shift responsibility alongside other Shift Line Leads and Technical Shift Line Leads, reporting to the Business Unit Lead. You will manage the employees on shift, ensuring the execution of short‑term daily direction setting.

A Taste Of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Team Safety: Ensure 100% personal team safety by managing outputs such as Near Miss, Safety Observations, and Safety defect handling.
  • Quality & Food Safety: Manage QFS incidents by adhering to cleaning schedules, ensuring 100% compliance in process checks, initial root cause analysis, escalation, and completion of food safety checks and end‑of‑run documentation.
  • Employee Involvement: Foster total employee involvement by managing shift‑based attendance, crewing, employee development, compliance training, and adherence to performance management and GMP standards.
  • Schedule Adherence: Ensure schedule adherence by meeting line throughput targets and packing schedule adherence.
  • Material Loss Mitigation: Mitigate material losses, minimise stops, and reduce rework/double handling through initial root cause analysis and escalation.
  • Team Development: Coach and develop your team through skills matrix progression, improvement plans, 1‑to‑1s, and employee development plans.

  • Previous management experience within an FMCG environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving approach.
  • The ability to be agile, working flexibly within diverse teams to meet business demands, e.g., attending meetings on days off or covering other shifts.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and lead teams to deliver results while building an open, honest, and inclusive culture with integrity and respect at the centre.
  • Ability to coach and develop teams to reach their full potential and deliver results.
