We are seeking a Packaging Technologist to support two key initiatives at Mars Snacking: a £75 million investment in the Wrexham cereal plant to transform it into Europe’s largest cereal manufacturing site, and the implementation of EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations across our Snacks and Cereal portfolios.
Responsibilities
- Define and document packaging specifications for new and existing production lines.
- Assess proposed packaging equipment and support acceptance tests.
- Conduct factory trials and oversee commissioning and qualification of packaging machinery.
- Analyse trial data, apply statistical methods, and ensure compliance with OEE and approval processes.
- Communicate findings, highlight risks, propose solutions, and keep project teams updated.
- Manage project timelines, escalations, and product specifications, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Packaging Development or a related role.
- Strong understanding of packing line equipment, commissioning, performance, and packaging standards.
- Knowledge of packaging components, materials, and manufacturing processes, including their physical and barrier properties.
- Experience organising and leading packaging trials to validate solutions.
- Ability to analyse data using statistical methods and make informed recommendations.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of the impact of PPWR on packaging components and structure.
Location
Position is primarily based at Wrexham, with some flexibility for remote work depending on project needs.
