Overview
As an Environmental & Sustainability Specialist at our Wrexham Plant, you\’ll play a pivotal role in supporting a safe, sustainable, and compliant work environment. Reporting to the Plant EHS Manager, you\’ll collaborate with EHS team members, employees, managers, and leadership across the plant, while liaising with regulatory authorities and external third parties as needed.
Your mission will be to support the Plant EHS Manager in developing and implementing Environmental (Env) and Natural Resource Conservation (NRC) strategies and programs that align with our business and plant goals. You will own and manage the implementation and maintenance of comprehensive EHS compliance systems at the plant level, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements.
In this dynamic environment, you will manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and work closely with the KEU EHS Manager and Global EHS teams to ensure site activities are aligned with regional and global priorities.
What you’ll be doing
- Regulatory Compliance: Lead and execute Environmental (Env) and Natural Resource Conservation (NRC) programmes to ensure compliance with local legislation and Kellogg standards.
- Management Systems: Implement and maintain the Env management system, coordinating internal audits and inspections to drive continuous performance improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Collate, track, and review Env & NRC KPIs, presenting insights through Daily Direction Setting (DDS) and regular site meetings.
- Regulatory Reporting: Serve as the key contact for external regulatory authorities, managing and submitting reports (e.g., EPR, UK ETS, CCA) within required timeframes.
- Corrective Actions: Develop and execute corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans resulting from audits, inspections, or incidents, ensuring proper closure and documentation.
- Sustainability Leadership: Collaborate with the Technical Team to develop and implement sustainability initiatives, while leading NRC and EHS Centre Of Excellence (CoE) activities to drive sustainable progression.
- Capability Building & Culture: Build EHS capabilities across the plant by delivering training, supporting incident investigations, and promoting safe, sustainable behaviours to foster a positive EHS culture.
- Waste Management: Oversee site waste handling and disposal processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. Drive waste reduction initiatives, promote recycling and reuse strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve waste segregation and reporting.
Qualifications
- IEMA / NEBOSH Environmental Diploma (or equivalent) qualification.
- Strong understanding of domestic EHS regulations and best practice.
- Experience in hazard awareness, risk perception, and risk assessment.
- The ability to think strategically, lead from the front, and motivate teams effectively.
- Resilient, hands-on communication skills with a collaborative, problem-solving approach.
- Practical experience in manufacturing plants, including management systems and document control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS programme management.
