Berkeley Scott is currently recruiting experienced School Cooks to work across primary and secondary schools in Surrey and the surrounding areas. If you have experience preparing fresh meals in a busy school kitchen and are looking for flexible, ongoing work, we'd love to hear from you. The Role
As a School Cook, you will play an important role in preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals.
- Assisting with food preparation and service during busy meal periods.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.
- Following Food Safety, HACCP and allergen procedures.
- Supporting the kitchen team with daily duties.
- Assisting with stock rotation and storage.
- Ensuring all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.
What We're Looking For
To be considered, you should have:
- Previous experience as a Cook within a school, education, care, or commercial catering environment.
- Food Safety Level 2 Certificate.
- Food Allergen Awareness Certificate.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- A reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
- The ability to work well as part of a team.
- Own transport is desirable due to travel between school sites.
What We Offer
Competitive pay of £15.00–£17.00 per hour, depending on experience. Weekly pay. Monday to Friday working hours. Daytime shifts with evenings and weekends off. Ongoing temporary assignments with the potential for long-term placements. Opportunities across a range of schools in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
