Role Overview
As a Senior Paid Media Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical management, and strategic development of Google and Microsoft Shopping campaigns, ensuring campaign performance consistently exceeds company KPIs.
You will leverage and optimise internal management tools, advanced advertising platforms, data analytics, and internal feed management tools to drive scalable, data-driven growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Internal Set Up & Optimisation:
- Review the internal set up based on the financial and commercial strategy.
- Work on the end-to-end technical set up of the different campaigns and their tracking structures/principles to ensure efficient and scalable campaign management on Google Performance Max (PMax) as well as general Google’s Shopping Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
- Optimise the use and leverage of Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, CSS Centre, and Merchant Center interfaces.
- Utilize Google Analytics (GA4) for deep campaign performance analysis and actionable insights.
- Help to optimise current bidding strategies, budget allocation, and keyword/product targeting adjustments to maximize ROAS and conversion volume.
- Provide expert guidance on the architecture, setup, and ongoing management of Google Shopping campaigns, including advanced configurations in Google Merchant Center feeds (structured data, feed rules, supplemental feeds), CSS Shopping Ads, and Performance Max campaign asset groups.
- Configure and manage enhanced tracking setups, including Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking, offline conversion imports, and cross-device attribution.
- Consult on and troubleshoot complex feed issues, data discrepancies, and policy compliance within Google Merchant Center and Microsoft Merchant Center.
- Advise on the implementation of advanced audience segmentation strategies including Customer Match, Similar Audiences, and RLSA in Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
- Partner closely with internal teams (PPC, Product, Data Engineering) to leverage existing product catalogs, align campaign strategies, and refine audience targeting using first-party data and CRM integrations.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure feed data integrity, automated data pipelines, and campaign automation workflows.
- Diagnose and resolve campaign delivery issues, feed disapprovals, tracking anomalies, and bid strategy conflicts.
- Use diagnostic tools such as Google Ads Editor, Merchant Center Diagnostics, and Microsoft Ads Intelligence to identify root causes and implement fixes.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive technical documentation, best practice guides, implementation details, and performance analysis.
- Tailor strategic solutions and technical recommendations based on client business goals, historical data, and market trends.
Person Specification
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience managing large-scale Google Ads accounts with a strong focus on Shopping campaigns (Performance Max, PLA, CSS). Experience with Microsoft Ads shopping campaigns is highly desirable but no deal-breaker.
- Proficient in the end-to-end management of product data feeds using Google Merchant Center and Microsoft Merchant Center, including troubleshooting feed errors, optimizing feed quality, and automating feed uploads.
- Deep understanding of Google Ads advanced features: audience targeting, Smart Shopping, Performance Max campaigns, local inventory ads, dynamic remarketing, conversion tracking, offline conversion uploads, and GoogleAnalytics integration.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to feed management, campaign delivery, tracking, and bidding strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capabilities and experience manipulating large datasets to extract meaningful insights.
- SQL proficiency is a strong plus to support data querying and integration tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and document complex processes comprehensively.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with precision.
