Location: We are currently looking to recruit Mechanical Fitters to work across the Yorkshire region in our Service Centre within our Asset Maintenance Business Unit area here at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
Work type: Permanent. You'll be working 37 hours per week plus additional overtime as required.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Water's Mechanical assets across wastewater treatment and clean water pumping sites. Mobile working as part of a Service Centre Asset Maintenance Department to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical faults, carrying out repairs, servicing, strip downs, rebuilds, and testing of pumps. You will be required to replace key components, install a range of pumps along with associated equipment and pipework on customer sites, and assess or condemn faulty equipment for return to the workshop for repair.
You must adhere to all Health & Safety policies and standards, including identifying hazards, implementing mitigations, and reporting them into the company's hazard database to ensure root causes are addressed. The role requires producing risk assessments and method statements when a permit to work is needed.
Qualifications: It is an essential requirement that you hold a recognised Mechanical craft/Technician Apprenticeship and either a City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Eng Tech. A full valid driving licence (with no more than six points) is also essential.
Desirable qualifications include HNC in a Mechanical discipline and CompEx 11.
Desirable experience includes maintaining and repairing various types of pumps, working with rotating equipment, and operating lifting equipment and slinging.
