Location: Sheffield, Rotherham, and Barnsley; based out of Smithy Wood, Chapeltown, and Sheffield depots.

Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a Field Technician for our Clean Water Distribution Department. The successful candidate will cover the South West Yorkshire area, working as part of a tight‑knit team to deliver network operation and maintenance activities. The role requires problem‑solving under pressure, teamwork, and a commitment to high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely carry out day‑to‑day activities on a 24/7 rota, ensuring they are completed on time, to budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Carry out proactive network operation and maintenance activity and complete operational risk assessments.
  • Supervise all network intervention and respond quickly and effectively to network failures to minimise impact on key performance targets.
  • Provide front‑line customer service, resolving customer queries through attending appointments and promoting R+M work where required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience delivering against challenging upper‑quartile business targets and performance commitments.
  • Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships to a high standard.
  • Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Positive approach to change, embracing technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • IT literate.
  • Team player, respectful of others and supportive of colleague development.

  • Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
  • Experience within the water or wastewater sectors, or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Technical understanding of water networks and assets.
