We are looking for a trainee night leakage inspector to support the team in investigating and locating leakages across the network while gaining experience in advanced detection techniques.

Work Type: Permanent, rolling pattern of 3 weeks of nights and 1 week of days (37 hrs per week).

Nights: Monday–Thursday, 20:45–06:30 (4 x 9.25 hrs).

Days: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (5 x 7.4 hrs).

Location: Harrogate or Thirsk area, North Yorkshire.

Purpose and Working Pattern: As a trainee night leakage inspector you will work alongside the Night Leakage Inspector to perform advanced investigations in challenging district metered areas, including step testing, acoustic logging, and other leakage detection activities. The role follows a rolling pattern of 3 weeks nights followed by one week days.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn advanced detection and investigation techniques.
  • Prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
  • Master leakage detection methods such as sounding, correlating, step testing and acoustic logging.
  • Differentiating water usage from leakage.
  • Work with new and groundbreaking leakage technologies and equipment.
  • Develop a wide range of water industry skills through the Yorkshire Water Training Academy.
  • Gain proficiency in corporate systems.
  • Understand the clean water network from source to tap.
  • Work as part of a team of experienced Night Leakage Inspectors.
  • Collaborate with other key stakeholders across the business.
