Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we're moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you'll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week - Bradford/Leeds)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Investment Analyst to join the Asset Investment team within Wholesale Finance at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Asset Investment team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
As our Asset Investment Analyst you will:
- Produce comprehensive Totex programme reporting across Asset Planning and Delivery functions, monitoring performance against key time, cost, and quality metrics to provide accurate and timely insights that support effective decision-making.
- Prepare annual and cyclical business planning reports for Board approval, ensuring all programme data is robust, validated, and aligned to business planning requirements and strategic objectives.
- Support programme monitoring through the provision of clear performance reporting, highlighting key trends, risks, opportunities, and delivery outcomes to support achievement of business plan commitments.
- Support investment decision-making by reviewing programme risks, affordability, and delivery impacts, ensuring the regulatory capital programme remains aligned with Ofwat requirements and organisational priorities.
- Provide support and challenge through gateway approval processes within SAP, ensuring robust governance, project readiness, and smooth progression of schemes into delivery.
- Reconcile and analyse data from multiple sources across the organisation to provide clear visibility of Yorkshire Water's regulatory and investment position, engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Attend Programme Prioritisation Management Groups (PPMGs) and other governance forums, presenting programme performance, expenditure, risk, and investment information to enable informed decision-making.
- Utilise reporting and analytical tools to monitor programme performance, identifying trends in cost, schedule, risk, and delivery across the investment programme.
- Produce ad hoc reports for key stakeholders on specific elements of the programme, enhancing visibility and awareness of the capital programme.
- Tracking of capital outperformance across the programme, ensuring insights drive continuous improvement, optimise project outcomes, and inform future investment strategy.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience, with strong analytical capability and a proven ability to interpret complex information and data.
- Experienced in the use of analytical and reporting tools, including Power BI, to extract, analyse, visualise, and communicate business performance information effectively.
- Highly numerate and data-driven, with a strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the importance of data accuracy, integrity, and quality.
- Proven ability to compile, assess, interpret, and communicate complex financial and non-financial data, translating insights into clear and actionable information for a range of audiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple, engaging manner and present data in a visually appealing format tailored to customer and stakeholder needs.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, charts, and data analysis techniques to solve problems and support informed decision-making.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative and proactive team player with experience of building effective working relationships, extracting data from corporate systems, and independently researching, developing, and implementing new approaches while demonstrating a continuous desire to learn and develop new skills.
