Corporate Affairs Assistant – Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Bradford/Hybrid Working. We embrace a flexible working model with work from one of our Bradford offices approximately 1 day per week. Occasional travel to different sites across Yorkshire. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday to Friday during working hours. Summer 2026 we are relocating to Leeds.
Work type and benefits
- Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
- Salary and benefits vary by experience: £26,007 - £31,997 with an annual incentive related bonus (up to £1,000 for the performance year).

What we do
We provide essential water and wastewater services to the Yorkshire region, looking after communities, the environment and the health and wellbeing of the region. The Corporate Affairs function helps us meet changing expectations of customers and regulators and manages the company’s external reputation with politicians, regulators, partners and other stakeholders. The Corporate Affairs team also handles communications during crisis incidents and works to influence policy in support of the company objectives.
Where you fit in
As our Corporate Affairs Assistant you will:
- Help build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders (e.g. Members of Parliament, local authorities, Councillors, Parish Councils, and interest groups).
- Provide research and information to support the development and delivery of key activities.
- Support the development of policy influencing campaigns.
- Work with external agencies to ensure that up-to-date information on external matters such as parliamentary activity and regulatory changes is shared with senior managers.
- Respond to stakeholder enquiries via letter, email, phone calls and social media.
- Maintain effective relationships with key external influencers to build trust and support the company strategic objectives.
- Support the work of the team in cases of company incident management.
What skills & qualifications you will need
- A strong understanding of local and national government and the role of local politicians including MPs, Councillors and Mayors. Ideally, you will have a Public Relations or similar qualification.
- Experience of liaising with Councillors, MPs and Council Officers.
- Excellent research skills and the ability to translate research into high-quality briefings for senior managers.
- Confident in building up effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders; a confident communicator able to provide advice to the business.
- Highly organised, with the ability to work on several projects at once and maintain strong, accurate records. Also conscientious to drive projects and initiatives through from beginning to end.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with experience of handling sensitive or challenging topics with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- It would be advantageous to have previous experience of organising events.
