About the Role

Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO / COO) at a Series A Technology Company. Our client is seeking an exceptional CFO / COO to join their executive leadership team and drive their company through its next phase of hypergrowth. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic finance leader with tier-1 investment banking and technology company operational experience to shape the future of a rapidly scaling Series B startup. The ideal candidate will bring a rare combination of Wall Street analytical rigor and startup operational expertise, having successfully transitioned from evaluating technology companies to building them.

You will be responsible for all financial operations, strategic planning, and key operational functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Finance & Capital Markets
    • Lead all fundraising efforts including Series B and beyond, leveraging deep relationships with institutional investors.
    • Own investor relations, board reporting, and strategic communications with existing and prospective investors.
    • Drive financial planning & analysis, scenario modeling, and unit economics optimization.
    • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to guide strategic decision-making.
    • Own M&A strategy.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Build and scale finance, accounting, legal, and people operations functions.
    • Implement enterprise-grade systems and processes while maintaining startup agility.
    • Drive operational KPIs and company-wide OKR planning and execution.
    • Partner with product and engineering teams on resource allocation and capacity planning.
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve operational efficiency and margins.
  • Leadership & Team Building
    • Build a world-class finance and operations organization.
    • Partner closely with CEO and executive team on company strategy.
    • Serve as a key external face of the company to investors, partners, and customers.
    • Foster a data-driven and AI culture across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Investment Banking Foundation
    • 3-5+ years at a tier-1 investment bank (Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, etc.) OR Tier 1 Consulting McKinsey.
    • Technology equity research or technology investment banking experience required.
    • Deep understanding of software metrics, technology business models, and capital markets - Strong financial modeling and valuation expertise.
  • Operating Experience
    • 3-5+ years in strategic finance or CFO / COO role at a high-growth technology company.
    • Direct experience at a Series A / B / C stage startup (ideally in enterprise software, AI / ML, or deep tech).
    • Track record of successfully leading fundraising rounds and managing investor relations.

  • Technical Skills
    • Expert-level financial modeling and data analysis capabilities.
    • Proficiency with modern finance tech stack.
    • AI Automation Skills.
    • Experience with complex revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and 409A valuations.
    • Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, cohort analysis, and growth accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSE, BS, or BA from a top-tier university in Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience at an enterprise technology company.
  • Prior experience with successful exit.
  • Active network within venture capital and growth equity communities.
  • Experience with international expansion - US and UK experience.
  • Background in highly regulated industries (fintech, healthtech).
