Equine Groom Apprentice (Diamond Dressage) – Location: Herts, CM21 0LD. Level 2. Course Duration: 16 months. Application Deadline Date: 30.6.26. Weekly Hours: 40 hours, will include weekend work. 8-5pm.
Amazing opportunity to train with a Grand Prix Dressage Rider. You will be looking after our livery horses and will be part of our team, carrying out the same role and responsibilities as our grooms. On-the-job learning at its best. You will spend time with our farrier, physio, dentist, saddler, and vets. You will also have the opportunity to attend competitions. We have a lovely mix of horses and ponies, together with great, appreciative liveries. The yard is beautiful and a relaxed and friendly place to be. Our Head Girl has been with us for 17 years, and our previous Apprentice (who gained distinctions in every module) is now a Groom with us. A 4 or 5 day week is offered, both weekend days are required so that you get to know our liveries and learn about customer service. If you are passionate about horses, fit and healthy, honest, and above all reliable, we would love to meet you.
Duties include:
- Routine yard and field duties: mucking out, poo-picking, watering, feeding, tidying, cleaning.
- Handling horses: turning out and bringing in from the fields, taking on and off the horse walker, washing off, grooming, tacking up.
- Handling tack and equipment, rugging up, cleaning tack.
- Assisting, as required, during sports science specialists’ visits e.g. vet, farrier, physio & dentist.
- Assisting with competition preparation and travelling.
- Occasional competition and training groom.
- Option to hack (depending on ability).

Training:
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship. The learner will be allocated an industry-specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on-site visits throughout the apprenticeship. The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
