Apprentice Dog Groomer (The Barking Brew)
The Barking Brew, located in Aston Clinton, are looking for an apprentice to join our salon.
We offer a bespoke grooming service in a calm, stress‑free environment, to ensure the happiness of both our staff and the dogs.
In your apprentice role you will have the opportunity to work under an award‑winning groomer, learning how to groom dogs and cats.
The course also includes in‑depth training on coat types, skin conditions and relevant animal legislations.
Your job will include
- bathing and drying dogs
- preparing dogs to be groomed
- assisting the groomers with handling dogs and cats
- basic trimming of the dogs
- keeping the salon clean and tidy
We firmly believe that education is so important in our industry, and so staff will be offered paid seminars and entry to grooming competitions in order to enhance their skills further.

- Desired Qualifications
- Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or above in dog grooming.
- Maths and English level 4 or above (equivalent to a C) is desired but not essential.

- Previous apprentice achieved a merit in her apprenticeship.
We compete in grooming competitions online and in person, and have 3 placings.
As a team we will attend seminars and conferences to learn new skills and further our knowledge.
- Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Dog Grooming Apprenticeship.
- The learner will be allocated an industry‑specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on‑site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

- The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
