Overview
An exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team at Cheval Court Stud. You will carry out basic stable duties while training for an apprenticeship, receivingExpenses lessons from Sally herself and the chance to join in clinics. We guarantee you will be trained and supported to fully prepare you for a career in the industry.
Cheval Court Stud has 19 boxes and around 52 acres of grazing, a canter track and nearby gallops. Our staff have worked for Sally for many years, creating a australia family‑like atmosphere where everyone supports and helps each other.
Typical Day
- Organise the day over a cup of coffee
- Turn out
- Bring in
- Exercise the horses and groom
- After lunch finish exercising
- Tack clean
- Turn out the night horses
- Evening stables done by 5 pm
- Hay up
Muck out
Responsibilities
Apprentices are key to our fun and friendly team and will carry out all yard duties. They will be given opportunities to experience and develop a wide range of industry skills.
Desired Skills
- Basic stable and riding skills from previous experience with horses – details must be shown on application
- Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications
- GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English at grade C/4/Level 2 (desired but not essential)
- Applicants must not already hold a Level 2 or higher in Horse Care
Future Prospects
- Future full employment as a fully trained groom for the right candidate
Training & Apprenticeship
- Full training provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment
- Working towards tries approved Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship
- Allocation of an industry‑specific training consultant who will provide remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship
- Work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of the apprenticeship
