Keith Borer Consultants is a Forensic Science Consultancy firm that has been providing forensic consultancy and expert witness services since 1980. We are looking for a full-time or part-time Forensic Collision Investigator with experience of forensic collision investigation and sound mechanical and vehicular knowledge. Experience working with tachographs, and in particular using these for route trace analysis, would also be advantageous.

The position can, experience dependent, be office based (Durham or Huntingdon), home based, or a combination of the two. The role primarily involves investigating the causes of road traffic collisions and other vehicle related incidents, tachograph route tracing, preparation of expert reports and, where necessary, presenting evidence at case conferences or in court. Travel throughout the United Kingdom and sometimes further afield is to be expected, and there is a requirement for occasional flexibility around the working day; for example to encompass night-time examinations when necessary.

To be considered for this role you will need to be organised and diligent, self-motivated, capable of working independently and have the ability to present complex scientific issues, both orally and in writing, to people with different levels of scientific understanding (lay persons, lawyers, peers etc.). Experience of working in the forensic arena and attending court as an expert witness would also be advantageous.

Keith Borer Consultants prides itself on providing a supportive and nurturing working environment for all staff. Consultants are supported by Logistic Administrators who assist with day to day case management, and by a designated Team Leader and Mentor who are on hand to help with any operational challenges. Continuous Professional Development is actively promoted through in-house knowledge sharing and participation in external courses where appropriate.

In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive the following benefits:

  • 33 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Pension Scheme (7.5% employer contribution with a minimum of 2.5% employee contribution)
  • Life assurance (Death in Service 4x base salary)
  • Perkbox Membership (Provides access to a wide range of high street discounts)
  • 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme

The standard working day is 7.5 hours; hours to be agreed between 08:00-17:30. Due to the nature of the work we undertake, all applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the past five years for security clearance due to residency criteria, and will be required to gain and retain security clearance which we will arrange. A full UK driving licence is also required. We reserve the right to close the position once sufficient applications have been received.
