As a trustee for KHL, you will play a key role in supporting an award‑winning charity to grow, strengthen its impact, and continue making a real difference in Keighley and across the Bradford District. You’ll join a supportive board made up of like‑minded people who share a commitment to reducing isolation, tackling health inequalities, and improving wellbeing.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in organisational or strategic development
  • Experience within the health sector
  • Knowledge of, or lived experience within, the local community
  • Grant‑funding or corporate partnership experience
  • A finance background
  • Strong I.T. and systems skills
  • A passion for improving health and wellbeing

Main Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the Board of Trustees by helping shape KHL’s strategic direction, setting overall policy, defining organisational goals, and reviewing the effectiveness of our services.
  • Ensure that KHL complies with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including its constitution, charity law, employment law, data protection legislation, and insurance obligations.
  • Ensure that robust processes, procedures, and policies are in place to protect KHL from non‑compliance and to uphold our governing documents.
  • Oversee and be accountable for monitoring the delivery of all legal obligations and ensuring that agreed outcomes are met.
  • Work alongside the Chief Officer to monitor and safeguard KHL’s resources - including finances, property, and staff.
  • Ensure that KHL maintains appropriate insurance to cover all reasonable liabilities.
  • Ensure that effective systems are in place to support, supervise, and manage staff and volunteers.

  • Champion and promote the work of KHL
  • Commit to working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Uphold and promote best practice in equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Attend relevant training and meetings as required
  • Attend board meetings, read papers in advance, scrutinise information and actively contribute to discussions
  • Declare any conflicts of interest when carrying out trustee duties
