Keepers Cottage Boarding Kennels Ltd are looking for a trainee kennel assistant with no experience necessary. We are a new start‑up opening in October 2024, offering overnight kennel accommodation, daily feeding and personalized care for dogs.
Responsibilities
- Providing daily care for boarding dogs, including feeding, watering and general welfare checks
- Cleaning and maintaining kennels, runs and all dog areas to a high standard
- Exercising dogs safely in secure areas, following individual handling instructions
- Monitoring dogs’ health, behaviour and wellbeing, and reporting any concerns to senior staff
- Supporting the safe handling of a range of dogs, including nervous or reactive dogs
- Administering medication under guidance where required
- Assisting with arrivals and departures, including basic handovers with owners
- Helping maintain accurate records for each dog (feeding, medication, notes)
- Working as part of the team to maintain a calm, safe and organised kennel environment
- Supporting general day‑to‑day running of the kennels
Qualifications & Requirements
- A genuine interest in working with dogs (experience is helpful but not essential)
- Calm, patient and confident approach to handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner with clients
- Willingness to carry out physically demanding tasks (cleaning, lifting, being on your feet)
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team in a busy environment
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and holidays
Pay
- £12.71 per hour for employees aged 21 and over
- £10.85 per hour for employees aged 18‑20
