SEN Teaching Assistant in Bedford

Bedford Full-Time No home office possible

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
Assist the teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff.
Use positive behaviour support strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
Support the pupil in developing communication and social interaction skills, both in and out of the classroom.
Liaise regularly with parents, teachers, and external professionals to provide consistent and effective support.
Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour, and interventions.
Assist with personal care if required, and ensure the pupil’s safety and well-being at all times

Experience:

Experience working 1:1 or supporting young people with Autism

Skills:

Strong communication skills, including active listening and non verbal communication
Adaptability and flexibility to respond to changing needs and classroom dynamics
Understanding of AUtism Spectrum Conditions and relevant support strategies
Creativity in delivering engaging and accesible learning activities
Team work and collaboration with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals
Good organisation skills to manage resources, schedules and documentation
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Educational requirements:

A relevant qualification such as: Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching, Level 3 Dipolma in Childcare and Education
Additional training in Autism awareness, positive behaviour support or safeguarding is highly desireable
