Great Yarmouth | Full-time (37.5 hours per week) | c£50,000 plus Company Benefits

I'm pleased to be supporting a well-established business in Great Yarmouth with the appointment of an experienced Accountant to take responsibility for the finance function at one of its key sites. This is a broad, hands-on role combining technical accounting, financial reporting, business partnering and team leadership. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, you'll be the key finance contact for operational leaders and play an important role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the site's financial information.

The Role

  • Preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and variance commentary
  • Maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Preparing VAT, MGD, ONS and other statutory returns
  • Leading the site's preparation for the annual external audit
  • Providing budget and quarterly forecast information
  • Reviewing capital expenditure and maintaining the capex forecast
  • Working closely with operational managers to provide meaningful financial insight
  • Overseeing stocktake accounting and related reconciliations
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and automation
  • Line managing and developing a small finance team

About You

We're looking for a qualified, part-qualified or finalist accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong month-end experience and a solid technical grounding across revenue recognition, accruals, prepayments, VAT and balance sheet control. You'll ideally have previous line management experience and be confident working with non-finance stakeholders, explaining financial performance and variances clearly. Advanced Excel skills and an interest in systems, automation and process improvement would also be advantageous.
