Key Responsibilities
We are looking to appoint two David Bruce Centre Fellows with the primary aim of completing a substantial writing project, normally a monograph based on a successfully completed PhD or a series of articles for international, peer‑reviewed journals. The project should focus on any aspect of US affairs, which might include, but is not limited to, US literature and culture; US history; US politics; and the USA’s transnational relations.
Qualifications
Successful candidates must hold a PhD on a subject related to US affairs (awarded no more than 24 months before the starting date); be able to demonstrate their excellent, rigorous and innovative research ability; and evidence their competence to carry out the project in a timely manner. Good interpersonal skills are also essential.
Job Features
The candidates will be assigned to a mentor who will support their career development. DBC Fellows will receive office space and be invited to become a member of the DBC Committee, which meets each semester. The DBC also provides a forum in which they can present their research to Keele colleagues at one of our regular research seminars. Fellows will be situated within BLHUMSS Faculty at Keele and benefit from the University’s research environment, including the Institute for Social Inclusion, which will provide opportunities to engage in joint writing projects and/or collaborative funding applications with established members of Faculty. They will also have the opportunity to develop teaching experience by contributing to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in their discipline at Keele.
