Join our London office as an Associate Quantity Surveyor & Employer's Agent. You will take ownership of projects from inception through to completion, acting as a trusted advisor to clients while also leading and developing a small team of surveyors. Projects span residential, education, public sector, fire remediation, retrofit, and more, with budgets ranging from £1m to £20m.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage cost plans and estimates, tender documentation and procurement strategies, and contract documentation and reports.
- Valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Act as Employer’s Agent, leading delivery from pre-contract to completion.
- Manage contractual and commercial aspects under JCT and/or NEC forms.
- Lead project meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to drive project outcomes.
- Lead and mentor a team of 2–5 Quantity Surveyors or Assistants.
- Review outputs and ensure high-quality delivery across projects.
- Support development and progression of junior team members.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Provide clear, commercially sound advice as a trusted advisor.
- Present confidently to clients and stakeholders.
- Manage expectations and drive decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage invoicing and forecasting for projects under your control.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong background in cost consultancy / PQS environment.
- Proven experience acting independently as an Employer’s Agent.
- Experience delivering projects in residential, education, or public sector.
- Demonstrable client-facing experience, including leading meetings and presentations.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
- Strong knowledge of JCT (and ideally NEC) contracts.
- Experience with MEP costing.
- MRICS or working towards MRICS designation.
