Children’s Palliative Care Support Worker – 28.75 hours per week
Starting salary £19,001 per annum (£24,784) with room to develop and progress through the pay grade banding up to £20,035 per annum (FTE £26,133).
Are you an experienced Health Care Assistant looking for an opportunity to work in a palliative care setting? You will be based in our children’s in patient unit, working alongside experienced nurses and support workers to support with end of life care, symptom management and short break stays for children with a life limiting diagnosis.
You will work 10 x 12.5 hour shifts per 4 week rota, including days, nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with other members of the care team always acting in the best interest of the child and family
- Assist with personal care and patient observation in accordance with the care plan
- Engage the patient in a range of activities to meet their physical, social and psychological needs
- Be sensitive to patient and family needs by providing emotional support
- Act as advocate for the child and family
- Ensure accurate record keeping is maintained
What we’re looking for:
- Knowledge of providing care for children with complex health care needs
- NVQ trained to level 2 and willing to work towards level 3
- Ability to organise own workload and adapt to changing situations
- Good IT knowledge and communication skills
- Willing to develop clinical skills relevant to the role
