Main duties of the job

About us

Keech Hospice provides free specialist palliative and end of life care for people of all ages. We support adults in Bedfordshire. Children and their families in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Milton Keynes. At home, in hospice, or wherever were needed.As a teaching hospice, our exceptional people, training, and facilities are helping local communities to live and die well.

Job responsibilities

Support with developing and implementing strategies to increase engagement and maximise income from donors who are supporting the hospice in memory of a loved one, as well as raise awareness of the importance of in memory giving internally and externally, with a clear aim to meet ambitious targets. This includes managing the day-to-day processes of this income stream.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual supporters, ensuring excellent stewardship utilising compelling cases for support, working as needed with the wider fundraising and Marketing & comms team to align fundraising activities with the organisation\'s vision, mission, and strategic aims.

Use project management skills to support successful fundraising campaigns, both online and offline, to generate income and engage supporters and to use data insights and evaluation to drive fundraising strategies and improve supporter engagement.

Work collaboratively across teams to embrace a test and learn approach, ensuring our supporter data is optimised and all systems are used to meet the charitys needs.

Support with the development and delivery of campaigns:Work with the Personal Giving Team to design and manage, schedule and execute a calendar of in memory fundraising activities.

Collaborate with marketing and comms to ensure campaigns reflect the hospices values and case for support.

Engagement and Stewardship:Support the creation of and understand strategic plans for those giving in memory.

Build meaningful relationships with donors, ensuring timely and sensitive communication collaborating with other teams as appropriate.

Promote Tribute Funds and other memorial giving opportunities.

Create personalised and mass-appeal materials for online and offline use.

Act as an ambassador for in memory giving across the hospice, raising awareness internally and externally.

Proactively seeking out opportunities to increase activity promoting in memory giving.

Data Analysis and Reporting:Analyse donor data to identify prospects and improve targeting.Report on campaign performance, income and ROI.Use insights to refines donor journeys and enhance engagement, capturing learnings to drive the In memory programme forward.

Collaboration and Coordination:Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure cohesive implementation of the annual giving plan from research to evaluation.Work across functions to support in memory fundraising across departments.Collaborate with the Legacy Manager, wider Personal Giving Team and Public Fundraising Team on the development and execution of our Donor Journeys.Innovative Fundraising Strategies, test and learn:Work with the team to develop new ideas and best practices to improve donor journeys leading to making a gift in a will.Explore new technologies and partnerships to improve donor experience.Monitor sector trends and apply best practices to improve programme effectivenessAdministrative and Project Management:Manage your agreed day-to-day operations of the In memory programme, ensuring all activities are completed accurately, on time and within budget. Contribute to the budgeting process.Maintain accurate records of donor communications and update donor management systems regularly.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in English and Maths at Grade 5 or above (or alternative)
  • Completion of relevant training courses in fundraising and/or donor management.
  • Professional certification in fundraising, such as the Certificate in Fundraising from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIOF)

Experience

  • Experience within fundraising, or marketing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage.
  • Understanding personas of those supporting with gifts in memory.
  • Proven experience in in memory fundraising or a similar fundraising role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with individual donors

Additional Criteria

  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with CRM databases for managing donor information.
  • Understanding of the charity sector and fundraising regulations in the UK ensuring compliance in fundraising projects.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on improving performance and achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Proficiency in using data to inform fundraising strategies and improve donor engagement through digital automation.
  • Experience with digital fundraising tools and platforms
