The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations including Procurement, Customer Service, and all Warehouse functions. This role leads the team in managing all inbound and outbound operations for the facility while maintaining and improving benchmark performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people. The Operations Manager partners closely with other business units to enhance the overall customer experience and drive continuous improvement across the entire supply chain network. In addition, this position is responsible for developing direct reports, strengthening leadership capabilities within the team, and building a strong talent pipeline for the facility and the broader organisation.

Job Duties

  • Manage all aspects of an Operational business including procurement, quality assurance, manufacturing/assembly, inventory, customer liaison, and despatch while complying with BS EN ISO standards.
  • Establish goals and strategy for Operations and drive alignment through your team to meet or exceed targets.
  • Overall accountability for Operations safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and continuous improvements goals.
  • Deliver world class customer service to all external and internal business units.
  • Provide leadership and direction to effectively manage the Operations team.
  • Establish continuous improvement - be a change agent who can develop and motivate their team to higher levels of accomplishment.
  • Partner with sales and corporate leadership teams to ensure high level of service to our customers.
  • Lead direct reports to drive changes and improvements to standard operating procedures, work instructions, and other documented training.
  • Lead process improvement projects using prescribed methodologies and tools.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce CO2e emissions.
  • Serve in community and lead community relations strategy for the facility.

People:

  • Directly lead, manage, coach, & develop your direct report leadership team in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure your leadership team has the training, tools and support to effectively manage their individual teams.
  • Manage staffing levels for Operations, partnering with human resources to ensure current and future appropriate levels.
  • Establish and maintain mentorship, cross-training, and develop culture within the facility.
  • Conduct performance reviews and development for your leadership team with focus on talent succession.
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and hiring leadership staff in partnership with broader site leadership team.
  • Establish and maintain a positive culture that drives accountability and team first mentality.
  • Communicate to all levels of the organisation on topics of site goals, performance feedback, departmental, organisation and company initiatives.

Person Specification

  • Bachelors Degree is preferred, equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years' management experience in a manufacturing, Distribution or Operations environment.
  • 5+ years handling inventory / operational tasks.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience.
  • Ability to adapt and change processes to keep pace with the evolving business requirements.
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership skills to optimally respond to urgent situations.
  • Must be process oriented with good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability and desire to lead a team.
  • A confirmed understanding of HSE and DfT regulations.
  • Strong technical skills included but not limited to Microsoft O365 applications.
